Company history in brief
Greenstreet® Software Limited was formed from
the merger, in 2001, of GST Technology and eGames Europe. A major publisher and
developer of PC software, Greenstreet covers a diverse variety of areas from print
products through to puzzles and games.
A Brief History of GST
GST was founded in 1979 as a contract development company producing software systems,
for example, typesetting software for the Beijing Daily. GST worked on software
for many early home computer systems including MSX (Shark Hunter and other games),
Sinclair QL (Assembler and Small C), Atari ST (1st Word and 1st Word plus). The
company rose to international fame with the release of its world-beating DTP package,
Timeworks Publisher for the ST & PC. GST went on to develop a whole range of graphics
productivity software, including Draw (previously called Designworks - now at Version
4), Photo FX 2 and the ‘Maker’ range of print products.
Home users and small businesses have been using
GST products in a number of different guises for many years. With publishing partners
in America and Europe, such as Canon, Macmillan, NEBS (Pagemagic) and Fuji, GST
was the developing power behind millions of DTP and graphic software packages worldwide.
If it has a ‘.DTP’ file extension then its a GST development!
History of eGames eGames
was originally called RomTech and was listed on Nasdaq (EGAM). In 1995 it purchased
a subsidiary of GST called Software Partners that sold eGames products outside North
America; it was then renamed eGames Europe. In 2001 Greenstreet acquired this company
and with it the rights to republish eGames products in most countries outside of
the USA.
Greenstreet Greenstreet
Software acquired the rights to both GST's internally developed software and the
eGames brand and range in 2001. Now developing and publishing under the Greenstreet®
brand, we aim to ensure all our customers receive top quality software and support.
The 2001 ‘merger’ with eGames Europe gave Greenstreet
the right to distribute low cost, high value, family friendly entertainment titles
in the UK and Europe, thereby advancing its prospects and vastly broadening its
product portfolio. Greenstreet has further expanded its range with titles such as
National Geographic, Discover and Professor Teaches. The Greenstreet Publisher range
has been winning awards worldwide and we intend to repeat this success with all
of our latest releases.
Present day Today, Greenstreet
routinely sells software to distribution partners in at least
41 countries. Through deals with manufacturers, license arrangements, retail
purchase and the Internet the company achieves sales worldwide. Greenstreet focuses
on top quality products, both developed in-house and by outside parties. We also
provide free technical support to end users from all over the world.
Our publishing partners are located in many
countries throughout the world, from the USA to Japan and our products are licensed
to them, often under different brands. Greenstreet also produces games and utility
software and continues to develop new titles in-house. Products are usually translated
into several European languages, with much of the translation work being carried
out in-house. A rigorous, well-established test department ensures that only the
very best software gets the Greenstreet stamp of approval.
